LANXESS’s BRIC strategy
One of the keys to LANXESS’ success has been its determination to build a strong presence in the BRIC countries – Brazil, Russia, India and China. India as well as China is already showing signs of recovery from the economic crisis.
LANXESS is well positioned, with major facilities in India, Brazil, and China. The company’s sales in BRIC came to roughly EUR 1 billion in 2008 – which is more than 40 percent above the previous year and means that these countries accounted for some 16 percent of LANXESS’s global business. The performance was particularly gratifying in Brazil, where the group acquired Petroflex (now LANXESS Elastômeros do Brazil), the most important Latin American producer of synthetic rubber. LANXESS has just recently established a presence in Russia as an independent company.
The expansion of the global footprint to the BRIC and Asia-Pacific markets gives the group stability, provides new opportunities for growth, and helps to attain sustainable success. LANXESS is therefore maintaining its active commitment to the promising markets of the BRIC countries.
