The strong roots of LANXESS serve as the foundation for the future.

|
LANXESS operations have a long history, rich with a tradition of research and discovery.
Our roots go back to 1863, the year Bayer was founded. In 2004, Bayer AG combined most of its chemical activities and approximately one-third of its polymer activities into a new company: LANXESS Deutschland GmbH. At Bayer's Extraordinary Stockholders' Meeting in November 2004 Bayer stockholders approved the separation of LANXESS from the Bayer Group as a spin-off, clearing the way for it to becoming listed as an independent company on the stock market. Bayer stockholders received one LANXESS share for every ten Bayer shares they owned. LANXESS has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since January 31, 2005. Joerg Strassburger, Country Representative of LANXESS India about the spin-off:
"The spin-off from Bayer is certainly going to help, as now we are totally
focussed on chemicals and polymers businesses, which was not the case with
Bayer," opines Joerg Strassburger and adds, "We can now look at these businesses
in depth. We can react much faster and therefore our competitiveness will also
improve".
